Too many people enter our facility (or walk past us) with an initial assumption that they are too advanced and experienced for the training we have to offer with regards to kettlebell and bodyweight, when in fact all they really know is just the tip of the iceberg.
"Kettlebells are just a fad, every gym has them, everyone is doing them. Bodyweight training is too boring and simple, I do that at home and G1RYA is just another one of those gyms", said plenty.
.. until they start to listen and open their eyes to what can be done.
If the above picture of one of our (regular and hardworking) members does not justify what these two modalities can do, nothing can.
Granted, there may not be enough stimulus to win a bodybuilding competition but designed appropriately based on science and logic, the combination of these two modalities will definitely give you a run for your money in developing insurmountable strength, physique and aerobic capacity.
Edmund has been a member of G1RYA since 2015. Prior to joining us, he was a commercial gym member for a good 20 years. He had decent strength, an estimated 12% body fat, could do 10 strict pull ups to neck level (not chin) and quite a number of push ups to begin with. Most men I know can hardly do 5 strict form pull ups to the neck.
Within a year of training, his pull ups (to neck level) increased to 25. Today, he is training to crush the StrongFirst Beast Tamer challenge (which consist of 1 strict rep of Pull Up, Pistol Squat and 1-Arm Press with the Beast - the 48 kg Kettlebell). Currently, he has further reduced his body fat to 8%, progressed to a strict pull up with a 40 kg, achieved his multiple 32 kg (half body weight) 1-arm presses, multiple 1-arm 1-leg push ups and has a perfect ass to grass pistol squat with the 40 kg.
Like most corporate working adults, he has a hectic schedule. He travels often and all he has access to are loaded bodyweight movements and occasional kettlebells once or twice a week.
The whole point of the story is not to brag but to show that no matter how advance you think you are, open your eyes and be a student to what can be achieved by following a structured programme planned by a professional.
